I was recently approached by Susie Francis, a content writer for Focus Training, who are a leading UK training provider that offer a variety of courses to help get a career in the fitness industry. Susie is a fitness fanatic and asked whether she could write some exercise and fitness related articles for my blogs, which I was pleased to receive. Taking part in group exercise is beneficial in a number of areas, not least in helping you maintain an active and healthy lifestyle. For me being a Personal Trainer is the greatest 'job' in world. It does not feel like 'work'. Getting paid for something I genuinely enjoy doing - exercise and fitness is my hobby - and crucially making a difference to people's lives. It is a great feeling knowing I am helping, supporting and inspiring clients to change their lives and to live more active and healthy lifestyles. Today – as always – was a busy and action packed day. Lots of cycling, running, power walking and circuits including press ups, lunging and squats. Living life in the active lane. I wanted to share with you an inspiring exercise moment from training with one of my regular and inspiring clients early this morning. We were training in the rain in a local park at 7am...

Who is up for a challenge? Who is ready to test themselves? For May, the #1MinuteChallenge is Burpees. Please see my 'Give it a Go - Burpees' exercise series and my Matt Swaz Fitness Video on how to perform Burpees. Burpees are a great whole body exercise, which provide a great core workout, challenge your Cardiovascular System and work your upper body and in particular lower body muscles. Whilst your leg muscles are doing most of the work by jumping back and forward, your arms, chest, shoulders and abdominals are getting a fantastic workout too. The aim of the #1MinuteChallenge is to see how many reps of an exercise you can do in 1 minute with correct form and movement. As a minimum, aim to complete the #1MinuteChallenge at least once per...
