Client Lifestyle Change

The follwing is an analysis of their lifestyle from one of my successful and valued clients. I asked them to bullet point how they felt their training, nutrition and whole lifestyle was before we started training together and then to do the same since we have been training. This makes for interesting reading.

BEFORE PT TRAINING (PAST)

  • Training was becoming more of a chore and boring, something that I wanted to do quickly and get out of the way.
  • No direction and strategy in what I was doing e.g. I had no overall goals or targets, therefore I could never move forward. Training was very unstructured and I would often be doing the same exercises each time at the gym e.g. bench press, sits ups.
  • A lot of sustained effort doing the wrong exercises using wrong techniques, thinking in the back of my mind the exercises were right for me, but clearly were not.
  • Trying to lift the biggest weights, using the wrong techniques which ofteb resulted in days of unnecessary aches and pains and also injuries.
  • Once Monday, Tuesday and Wednesday were out of the way, it was downhill to the weekend, eating rubbish food on Thursday, Friday, Saturday and Sunday, and drinking more alcohol because I felt I deserved it.
  • No structure to nutrition, very regimental throughout the week, usually miss breakfast, or have a slice of toast on the way out to work, have some sandwiches and crisps at 12, and a normal meal at 7pm. No nutritious snacks or nutrition in between and not drinking enough water throughout the day.
  • Very self conscious of the way I was beginning to look and feel within myself.
  • Weighed 101kg and had a 37.7 inch waist

PT TRAINING (PRESENT & FUTURE)

  • Enjoying and valuing exercising a lot more and feel as if I have more energy at the start of each day.
  • Feel as if I have structure in my week with regards to exercise and nutrition and a plan that I can work my job and social life around (not the other way as before).
  • I have learnt that you don’t have to spend 2 hours in the gym, when you could spend 30-45 minutes doing exercises properly with hard work, commitment and dedication.
  • I eat healthy snacks 5-6 times per day and drink more water through out each day, which is a big help. I have realised it keeps my metabolism going and energy levels all day, and stops me from getting really hungry before lunch and tea times and then overeating on the ‘wrong’ foods.
  • Feel a lot fitter, stronger and confident with regards to exercising, whether is be weight training, playing football, running, cycling etc.
  • I now value the benefits of rest days to allow my body to recover and get stronger and fitter.
  • My overall goals are constantly changing and I have learnt with the new programmes I do with Matt the higher I set my goals the more I will achieve – reach for the stars.
  • Currently weigh 91kg and have a 34.2 inch waist

Keep up the great work,

Matt
