    Informative and useful infographic from Picklee which gives us 10 activities that we can do to get active, burn calories, help lose weight and have fun too. To lose a pound in weight, we need to burn off 3,500 calories, which is achievable with a few lifestyle changes. As the infographic shows, performing any of the 10 exercise activities in the suggested time will burn off at least 500 calories per session. Therefore, if we perform one of these activies each day over a week (7 activities in a week) we will burn off approximately 3,500 calories in a week, tone up, have fun and should lose weight (obviously this depends on us not compensating for the exercise by eating extra cake!!).     I was pleased when Lexi Watkins from contacted me to see whether I would be interested in sharing the extensive and detailed research they had done on Treadmills, with the aim of finding which is the 'best' one. has conducted research on 65 treadmills designed for a living room and not a gym.     It is a well known fact that to lose weight and 'just' 1 pound of fat, we have to burn or create a deficit of about 3,500 calories. This can be achieved through a mixture of exercise and diet.  Exercise needs to be an aspect of our lifestyle alomgside healthy nutritional choices - exercise and nutrition go hand in hand and compliment each other.     TEAMWORK DREAMWORK WALK Massive inspired high 5 to all you rockstars who came on the April Team Walk, really proud of and inspired by you all, means a lot to me.     Our metabolism is all the chemical processes that happen in our body that help to keep us alive and living and keeps our organs functioning normally, such as breathing and digesting food. These chemical processes require energy and this is called the basal metabolic rate (BMR). It is our metabolic rate which determines the amount of calories we burn. Having a higher metabolic rate means that we are burning more calories - even at rest - which makes it easier for us to lose weight and also keep it off.     A study published in the International Jounal of Obesity suggests that eating an egg first thing each morning for breakfast could help with limiting our calorie intake throughout the rest of the day. The study reported that leucine, which is an essential amino acid found in high quality protein such as eggs, most likely gives a weight loss advantage when dieting by helping to decrease our loss of lean muscle tissue, whilst also increasing our loss of body fat and stabilising blood glucose levels.
