#1MinuteChallenge for August - Press Ups with Shoulder Taps

Who is up for a challenge? Who is ready to test themselves?

For August, the #1MinuteChallenge is based on Press Ups with Shoulder Taps. Please see my 'Give it a Go - Press Ups with Shoulder Taps' exercise series on how to perform the Press Ups with Shoulder Taps.

Tapping your shoulders whilst doing the press up is a great way to challenge your core muscles and to give you a brilliant upper body and abdominal workout. It is also a fantastic way to add variety and progress to the press up. Are you up for the challenge? The Press Ups with Shoulder Taps for the August #1MinuteChallenge can be performed in a variety of ways. For a beginner, you can position your knees on the floor directly aligned with your hips. If you can do this version of the press up comfortably then raise your knees off the floor so that there is a straight line from your head to your ankles. If you can't do a press up then you could get into the press up position and 'just' tap each shoulder for 1 minute.

The aim of the #1MinuteChallenge is to see how many reps of an exercise you can do in 1 minute with correct form and movement. As a minimum, aim to complete the #1MinuteChallenge at least once per week. Ideally, aim to complete it 3 times per week on different days e.g. 1 minute on Monday, Wednesday and Friday. If you commit to doing the #1MinuteChallenge once per day as a way of getting active then great - as many of my clients do and followers on Twitter.

All you have to do is commit 1 minute of your time to the challenge and give it your best shot. Then record your results and post them on my Facebook page (Matt Swaz Fitness) or on my twitter page (@mattswazfitness) with the hashtag #1MinuteChallenge. The aim is to improve on the number of repetitions you can do as the month progresses. The challenge is open to anybody - spread the word - get friends, family, colleagues involved. Encourage others to take up the challenge and turn it into friendly competition. Be proud of your results and use it as added motivation to improve each time you do the #1MinuteChallenge.

Anybody can commit 1 minute - whether it be each day, every other day or as a minimum once per week. Spend 1 less minute watching TV, playing on the computer etc. See it as an investment in your health. You can do the #1MinuteChallengeas soon as you get up in the morning, whilst on your lunch break etc. You will get a great workout at a high intensity in 1 minute. The aim is to highlight the fact that 'you' do not need much time to get a great workout.

By joining in with the #1MinuteChallenge you will be joining a team, a community of like-minded motivated and determined people. You can track your progress as the month progresses and you can compare your results against others. Crucially you will get support and motivation from others. You can encourage and inspire others to join the #1MinuteChallenge. Spread the word and join the #1MinuteChallenge team.

I will be posting regular reminders of the #1MinuteChallenge and look forward to seeing your results and improvement as the month progresses. So get doing your Press Ups with Shoulder Taps for August and keep an eye out for the September #1MinuteChallenge.

Any questions please do not hesitate to ask. Enjoy the challenge,

Matt
